blogger off

yet again i am here to blog,
what a pain, what a slog.
heres some news you all should know,
and heres some gigs to which you should go:

electric theatre on the 13th of september : we have it all to ourselves to do what we choose with it. so sod music were going to do a trampoline exhibition.... no. but we have started the search for some people to join us that night and suport us at this most theatrical of shows. and if you message us saying you want to support us at a gig, then make us get in touch with your 'manager' who later says you are 'busy', i will probably have a pop at you in the next blog. this rant is related to our boileroom show that happened last week......::::

what a fun night, thank you for linda harrison and band for playing and also jonny arrow for opening the nights music, thanks you both very much. the night was very hot, with the whiff of swine flu still marinading in the nostrils of the drummist, but the fat piggy one trotted on and after a few drinks from mummy pig(oink oink), was as happy a pig in slop. any way, lets get BacOn track<----------------- !!!!

keep peeled for a new advertising campaign we re putting up on the worldwideweb.

thats about it, time to go
this blog was shit, but you all know
when you pay with peanuts,
you dont get the stanley blacks.

BULLET POINTS:

Gigs - lots of gigs have been played, many more have been booked. all will be played, more will be booked. etc.

Festivals - guilfest is on the list, don't pencil it, write it in huge letters, in blood, on you front door, we are playing it.

Chord company - these fine people hand make our cables so we sound better. Buy some of these cables and you too may sound better.( that should keep the chord cats purring ;) MEEEOOOWWWWWW

never a dull day in stanleytopia, just dull days between blog posts.... i can only apologize and pull my finger out; a line that didn't get me out of a sticky legal battle, but may get me out of your bad books.

Toilet training Jon

well well well, here we are then.

since the rhoda there has been a lot going on, hence the sparseness (don't care if that's not a word you beasts) of posts. we have been gigging, giggling and gagging. we havent been pigging, suckling haggling.

GIGGING:

we most recently played at the mau mau bar in notting hill and despite learning that the bar is named after some terrorists we all managed to leave with our bodies intact. although some livers may have been damaged as it was Fiona's birthday celebration too. happy birthday Fi! another notable gig was the hope and anchor which was the first heat of the bugbear promotions battle of the bands and guess what.... we 3...2.....WON IT! the next round is at dublin castle so fingers crossed, praise the lord , bottoms up!

GIGGLING:

the stanley days are drenched in laughter. it can be a sprinkle of a giggle at seeing random goiters (look it up, particularly the banjo goiter) Or a full blown cackle of getting a text from jon whilst waiting to play in basingstoke saying 'please come to toilets'...... only to find that the reason was that he had no toilet paper and the ship had already left the dock, capish? yet again the stans had to mop up after jon's mistake, metaphorically speaking.

if enough people read and comment on this blog, i have a picture of the jon toilet moment which could be posted. lets say 10 people comment = picture of jon on toilet. IT'S UP TO YOU!!!

GAGGING:

an interesting heading, if only i had an interesting article to suit. i dont.

'i do not know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody.' i'm thinking of putting smart phrases in each blog now in an effort to make it seem half credible.

anyway, it's the end... yes indeed, ya better watch out for the next blog, its gonna be real bad.

good morrow fair blog people.

Dear Stan, what have you been doing? love anyone who cares

The blog has moved as you may have probably spotted. this is due to the recession. no its not, but most things are so might as well jump on the band wagon. so here goes, wagons roll...

The first stop for this band wagon must surely be shamelesslytryandsellyoustuffsville - We have our first EP complete. many of you will already have a copy and that really helps us sleep at night. but if you don't then you can get one at the link below. we also have tee shirts you can purchase if you feel like it. no pressure.

2nd stop is whatwe'vebeendoing town - we played our show at the rhoda which went swimmingly. we were blessed with support from the tasty Jack Lockwood and delectable Francesca Young. thank you both very much. before that we joined our friends the betend at the Bull and gate in kentish town to see in the new year, and we saw it in alrite, we saw it all the way.

next stop: whatsupnextforthestans city, this wagon terminates here - we will be recording a 2nd EP soon and have many gigs lined up. our upcoming gigs can been seen here: www.thestanleyblacks.com. until the next blog goodbye.

We're still alive

long time no blog. there has been lots going on:

we will have a 3 track CD ready in the next week or two instead of the previous 2 track demo we had planned.

We managed to get some canadian airplay last week, ill post the link to listen back as soon as it's on their site.

we're also well on the way to having our january show sorted. we’re playing at the Rhoda McGaw theatre in woking. tickets are £10 or £6 concession. support acts confirmed are Jack lockwood and Francesca Young.

keep your finger on this blog pulse to stay in time with the stanley heartbeat.

A busy weekend for the Stans

Well there could hardly be a more busy weekend to tell you about for this, the first real post on the new Stanley blog!

Friday night we were up in Camden playing the Dublin Castle. A really good venue with some good bands too, one of the bands had even travelled from Japan to grace the dublin castle stage. The fun even continued all the way to the Don where jon had an altercation with some moron. Luckily Nicola was at hand with a drop kick to the throat to take him down. (<- a lie)

Saturday night was a 40th birthday party in Bisley. We were joined by Emily as a guest vocalist for one song and the guest drummer for about 5 songs was none other than the birthday girl herself. So if you see the picture and think Matt’s hair has grown and he’s blackened it then you're an idiot because its not him.

Just as we thought the weekend's music was over for the slightly jaded Stans, we head to the Hen and Chicks to play at the jam night with Kevin and co. (we saw Kevin at the party the night before, in fact he was central to one of the funniest moments of the weekend. But only Matt and Jon were part of the laughter so this is a humourless bracketed digression for most.) It was a fun evening with Kevin joining us for some Blues jamming baby.

What a good weekend. hopefully have a good week too. We wish you the same fate.
